Four times winner of the Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year Award, HM GEM Engines is opening up opportunities for young people to enter the industry through apprenticeship training in facilities that are some of the most advanced in Australia. Trainees will be working on the latest equipment and machines related to the industry and will be under the supervision of some of Australia’s most experienced and skilled operators.

HM GEM Engines offers outstanding training for Automotive Engine Reconditioning and Certificate 3 Engineering – Mechanical in its branch network located in Melbourne (Head Office), Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Shepparton, Sydney, Tamworth, Townsville and Wagga-Wagga.

During their training apprentices can be offered the opportunity to move inter-state to broaden their experience and knowledge working on different machines and once qualified, HM GEM Engines has over the years provided outstanding career opportunities both within and beyond the workshop. The skills learnt in this profession, where the latest Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines and a variety of equipment are used, are many and varied and the ultimate qualification is recognised nationally and internationally.

“Year 11 and 12 male and female students also have the opportunity of gaining work experience of one or two days a week within the company by arrangement with the local branch manager,” said Dean Taylor, HM GEM General Manager. “This experience will expose potential apprentices with an insight into various industry sectors such as Automotive, Heavy Transport, Mining, Agriculture, Marine, Power Generation and Contracting that form the client base of our company. Students should have an aptitude for English and Mathematics with a completion of year 12 preferred, but not essential,” he said.

“To open up opportunities for students, School Careers Advisors have been contacted directly wherever possible, with the contact details for both HM GEM Head Office and the local Branch Managers who will provide further information on career opportunities. We also encourage students to also seek further information directly from us,” said Dean Taylor.
