Ryco and its innovation with air filters has been formally recognised once again.
The Australian filter brand secured the top spot in the 2024 Australian Financial Review‘s (AFR) BOSS Magazine ‘Most Innovative Companies’ awards for the Manufacturing & Consumer Goods sector.
After five consecutive years of placing in the top 10, Ryco achieved first place this year for its N99 MicroShield Cabin Air Filters designed for commercial vehicles.

The N99 MicroShield range was developed with drivers in mind, offering a solution for vehicle cabins that doesn’t directly affect the engine but plays a crucial role in maintaining air quality, particularly in trucks often equipped with only a basic leaf tray.
Ryco General Manager of Engineering, Innovation & Quality Alastair Hampton emphasised the company’s commitment to addressing customer needs in new and thoughtful ways.
“For a lot of truck drivers, their cabin serves as their office, their bedroom, and their main living space while on the road,” he said.
“With that in mind, it’s critical that they have the cleanest environment possible while on the road, and the best way to achieve that is with efficient filtration in the HVAC system.”
The N99 MicroShield Cabin Air Filter is designed to remove particles down to 0.3 microns with 99.7 per cent efficiency.
Its construction includes three layers: a pre-filter with anti-viral agents that eliminate airborne H1N1/H3N2 viruses, an activated carbon layer to block odours, and an electrostatically charged layer for optimal particle filtration. The filter also boasts a 360° air-tight seal that prevents air from bypassing the filter, a common issue with some original equipment (OE) cabin filters.
“People are most often certain that the only percentage of polluted air they’re comfortable inhaling is zero per cent,” Alastair said.
“We’re proud to have designed something that gets as close to that as possible, unseen elsewhere in the market.”
