Australia’s largest repair group has reported some slight improvements in earnings as it readies for more growth.
The AMA group first quarter results, reported to the ASX, highlighted earnings (before tax etc) of $14.8 million, an 8.8 per cent increase over the same period in 2024.
This was from revenue of $256.4 million for the quarter, up on the last quarter of $237.6 mil and about $13 million up on the first quarter of the last financial year.
The Capital SMART group of repairers, having undergone the SHIFT project is now contributing to these before tax earnings with $12.9 million in Q1 2025 compared to $11.9 million in Q1 2024, it reported.
Part of these improved margins have been driven by keeping additional repair processes in-house and increasing the use of non-OEM parts, it noted.
ACM Parts, which the company plans to sell is not reported separately in the results and is expected to be sold in the next few months, the release said.
Wales heavy vehicle repairs is also reported to be performing well with a 50 per cent earnings growth for the quarter over the same period last year.($3.0mil from $2.0mil in 2024 Q1) The upgraded Adelaide site is performing well, and a WA site should be completed at the start of next year.
On the up
The AMA Collision section did not track so well but still produced revenue before tax equivalent to the last quarter of FY23/24 and the company will now look to continuing its rebrand of the seven sites as well as looking to grow through acquisition of other single sites.
The ASX report also highlights the completion of AMA’s $125 million fully underwritten equity raise that was flagged in June.
The structural repairs specialist TrackRight has completed its new site in Dandenong, Victoria and the TechRight, the company’s ADAS specialist is also opening new sites.
AMA Group now employs 3512 staff including 452 apprentices, a net increase of 72 for the quarter and is expecting more than 140 new international recruits before the end of the year.
