Another ute joins Australian market in LDV Terron 9

The next-generation LDV Terron 9 ute series is approaching Australian showrooms in mid-2025 offering electric and diesel options.

Two prototypes have arrived for final validation testing on a variety of Australian roads to ensure the models meet local driving demands.

Testing of the Terron 9 has taken place across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, encompassing highways, backroads, and urban environments in cities like Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

“The purpose of this validation test is to ensure the new-generation LDV Terron ute series is ready for Australian driving conditions,” LDV Australia General Manager, Dinesh Chinnapp said.

“The arrival of these vehicles for final validation testing shows the factory recognises the importance of the Australian market.”

LDV Automotive Australia has confirmed that the electric LDV eTerron 9 and the diesel-powered Terron 9 will join the lineup alongside the existing LDV T60 ute series. This expansion aims to provide more choices for Australian ute buyers.

“We want to make sure when a ute buyer walks into an LDV showroom, we have a vehicle that offers value across a range of price points,” said Mr. Chinnappa.

“We are not going to leave our traditional ute buyers behind. Rather, the LDV Terron ute series will broaden our offering across the ute segment.”

While specific details regarding pricing and specifications for the new models will be revealed closer to their launch, the LDV eTerron 9 electric ute is expected to attract significant interest from sectors such as fleets and mining companies.

“Certain segments of the ute market are not only ready for an electric ute, they’ve been pleading for one. Particularly fleets and mining companies who want a factory-built, turn-key solution straight off the showroom floor, rather than a diesel vehicle that has been converted to electric power,” said Mr. Chinnappa.

The new Terron 9 models are larger and more spacious than the updated LDV T60 Plus, reflecting advancements in both electric and diesel ute technology.

“This is a completely different vehicle, inside and out,” Mr. Chinnappa said.

“We are proud that the LDV eT60 was the first electric ute in Australian showrooms, but we are also proud to demonstrate just how far electric ute technology has progressed with this all-new model.”
