BYD marks another big milestone as prominence skyrockets

Following a record-breaking June, BYD has continued its impressive growth by officially surpassing 60,000 vehicle sales nationwide.

This significant milestone was celebrated in a special handover ceremony, where BYD Founder, Chairman, and President Wang Chuanfu personally presented the 60,000th vehicle to an Australian customer.

“Personally, it’s very meaningful,” Chuanfu said.
“It shows that Australian customers are embracing our vision to Cool the Earth by 1°C. For BYD, 60,000 represents 60,000 families and individuals helping drive the transition to cleaner transport.”

Reaching 60,000 sales in less than three years is no small feat, and with over 40,000 additional deliveries projected for 2025, BYD’s momentum is only building.

The brand’s rapid rise follows a standout first half of the year, capped by a record-setting June 2025 with 8,156 vehicles delivered — marking a remarkable 368 per cent year-on-year increase.

This surge was largely driven by the success of the BYD SHARK 6, Australia’s first plug-in hybrid Ute. Chairman Wang celebrated the milestone by recognizing the growing connection between the brand and Australian drivers.

Mr Chuanfu also emphasised the importance of the Australian market in BYD’s global strategy.

“Australia is a key market for the BYD Brand,” he said.
“It’s a highly competitive, advanced automotive market with an educated customer that values innovation, safety, and sustainability.
“Success here is a signal to the world that BYD vehicles can meet and exceed the expectations of mature markets. The learnings we gain from Australia help shape our products and approach globally.”

“As our exclusive distributor, they have been instrumental in bringing BYD’s vision to Cool the Earth by 1°C to Australian customers.
“We are proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to continuing this successful collaboration as we enter the next phase of growth.”
