Supercars superstar Cam Waters is predicting drivers will have their hands full as the Gen3 cars head to Symmons Plains.
The 28-year-old Tickford Racing driver will look to get his team’s season on track for the NED Whisky Tasmania Supersprint.

“[I] Really need to start getting a few more trophies, [and] getting a few more points on the board,” Waters said.
“Tassie’s gonna be super close so qualifying’s going to be super critical to make sure you start at the pointy end.
“Hopefully we can have a good weekend.”

It’s been a full year since Waters first tested out the Gen3 Mustang at the very same Symmons Plains.

“It’ll be fun to see how far they’ve come in that 12 months,” he said.
“It’s gonna be super close at Tassie – qualifying. The qualifying times this year have been super close, so I think that’ll be the case again.
“I think the racing’s going to be full on … hopefully there’ll be a few more passes this year compared to the previous generation car.”

This will be the 50th anniversary of Symmons Plains hosting Supercars races.
The round will get underway in Northern Tasmania May 19.
Team Coca-Cola driver Brodie Kostecki holds the Championship Series lead, with Ford driver Chaz Mostert sitting 100 points behind.
