AUSTRALIAN DELIVERED - EARLY SIX CYLINDER
The Austin Healey 100/6 was produced between 1956 and 1959, and was the first of the range to use the new 6 cylinder BMC C series engine. Whilst on release the engine produced only an extra 12 BHP than the 4 cylinder engine of the previous 100/4 models, it was infinitely smoother and had far superior tuning potential.
This 1957 BN4 (2+2 seater) presents in the classic and striking duo-tone combination of black over red. The cockpit interior is finished in complementary red, highlighted with black piping and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel. The exterior appeals, with the brightwork in smart condition, further accented by the sparkling chrome wire wheels, an alloy flip top fuel filler cap.
Despite showing an L on its Chassis plate, this BN4 was built new in right hand drive, and was sold new in Australia. This was a rare, but not unheard of error made on the production line, as Australian Healeys were often taken from production out of sequence to better fill shipments.
Appearing mechanically standard, the Healey does have a number of more subtle upgrades, aiming to improve the reliability, drive-ability and serviceability of the 100/6, including: a spin-on oil filter conversion, a multi-blade plastic engine cooling fan, front disc brakes from a later model Austin Healey 3000 and telescopic front shock absorbers, which significantly improve both the ride quality and road holding.
Finished in a superb, desirable colour combination, this BN4 delivers period British sports car performance, with its smooth and flexible 6 cylinder engine coupled to the 4 speed gearbox with electronic over-drive providing excellent long-legged cruising, with the opportunity to further personalise to suit your requirements.
