2,880 MILES SINCE COMPREHENSIVE RESTORATION!
Introduced in March of 1959 the 3000 MkII was developed to keep the Factory Healey Rally-Cars competitive, by fitting Triple HS4 S.U. Carburettors the Works team were given FIA clearance to run Triple DCOE45 Webers, vastly improving performance and throttle response.
Built in very late December and dispatched on the 5th of January 1962, this Factory Tri-Carb 3000 was delivered new to Chicago Illinois. Imported to Australia in January 1997 the Mk II was then purchased by an enthusiast who started the 7 year process of Restoration, initially at home, then quickly, professionally, by The Healey Factory.
The Healey was stripped to a bare chassis, rust repairs completed, and the whole body rebuilt from the ground up, finished in its original and highly desirable colour of Healey Blue, with the trim completed by Garry Blackman, in dark blue Connolly leather, with heritage carpet and weather gear trimmed in dark blue vinyl.
Mechanically, the 3000 MkIIs engine and gearbox/overdrive were comprehensively rebuilt, including, but not limited to: all new bearings, gaskets & seals, reconditioning of the cylinder head, compression raised to 9:1, full balance and blueprinting of the engine, a full set of gearbox synchros, a new lay shaft, reconditioned cluster gear, new first gear and a new O/D accumulator.
The only noted deviations from factory standard are: Koni telescopic shock absorbers front & rear, rear indicators replacing the factory reflectors, a period correct wood-rimmed MotoLita steering wheel, a spin on oil filter conversion and a Texas Kooler fan.
Having now travelled just a mere 2,880 miles (4,635km) since the restoration was completed in December 2004, the BT7 is deserving of a new custodian ready and willing to stretch its legs and take it out for regular adventures.
