The Austin Healey 100 released in 1952 became an instant success with its stylish lines created by Gerry Coker, which remained the styling basis for Big Healeys until production ceased in 1967. To many enthusiasts the original Austin Healey 100 powered by the 2660cc Austin 4 cylinder engine remains the purest of Donald Healey's dreams.
Introduced in August 1955, and built for 12 months the BN2 was upgraded with Austin's new 4 Speed gearbox, more efficient front drum brakes and benefited from all the upgrades made throughout the BN1's production, including, but not limited to the hypoid differential with 5 stud rear axles, that was strong enough to be retained for the entire remaining Austin Healey line up.
This BN2 was built on 4 November 1955 and exported to Melbourne, verified by the accompanying heritage certificate. Now finished in vivid red, with sparkling chrome wire wheels and contrasting black interior featuring red piping, this BN2 is ready to be enjoyed. The weather equipment comprises of a black vinyl soft-top Hood as well as matching tonneau cover and side-screens, which have custom made storage bags, for their protection when stowed.
Mechanically this BN2 was built to factory specification, with the torque filled 4 cylinder engine still providing impressive pulling power, driven through the 4 speed overdrive gearbox, allowing you to drive spiritedly through the hills, while still having the gearing to cruise the country side.
