$115,000
(To be sold Unregistered & with Vic RWC)
LAST OF THE ROADSTERS, LOVINGLY RESTORED
Introduced in May of 1961 the 3000 MkII was the final Healey Roadster, featuring the same bodywork, suspension and running gear as the 3000 MkI, with the exception of a new vertical grill, and triple 1½ SU Carburettors. Power was increased to 132bhp, but most importantly allowed the works teams to homologate triple carburettors (DCOE45 Webers) on their rally cars. Six months into production, in November of 1961 the new 'Centre Shift' gearbox was introduced to the 3000 MkII, creating the Last and Best Austin Healey Roadster produced.
Delivered new to Portland Oregon, this BT7 drove off the production line in late January 1962, finished in Healey Blue with blue trim, optioned with wire wheels, Overdrive, a heater and an adjustable steering column.
Imported into Australia in 1988, this 3000 MkII was then sold to a Tasmanian enthusiast who in May 1990 commissioned The Healey Factory to undertake the required full restoration. Stripped to a bare metal shell, and rebuilt from the ground up, the restoration took 15 months, with the Healey Roadworthy, Engineered and Registered in August 1991.
Subsequent owners have lovingly cared for the MkII, with a number of reliability upgrades taking place between 2011 and 2013, including the fitment of: enlarged, triple 1¾ SU carburettors, twin fuel pumps, electronic ignition, a spin on oil filter conversion, an alternator and a hi-torque starter motor.
Supported by a large file of receipts, documenting the restoration, upgrades and maintenance work carried out, this BT7 is ready for a new home, begging to have its legs stretched on open country roads.
