1970 FORD FALCON XW

Hard to find 1970 XW GT Falcon running the factory 351 4V Cleveland and 4 Speed Top Loader gearbox in Candy Apple Red with Black trim. All matching numbers and now for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

The XW GT has Bill Bourke written all over it. Lurking under his charismatic personality and slick backed hair beat the high octane heart of a hot rodder. Bourke transformed the conservative and somewhat unreliable Falcons of the early to mid 1960s into the reliable race winning Falcons of the late 60s and 1970s.

And nothing spelled Bill Bourke more than the XW GT Falcon. With it's bright colours, bold Super Roo stripping, big 351 Cleveland V8 horsepower, bullet proof running gear and huge options list, Bourke was onto a winner!

2,287 XW GTs were sold by Ford. Nearly 3,000 if you add in the GTHOs. And Candy Apple Red proved particularly popular with the buyers. The bonnet black outs, gold side stripping, chrome and chunky metal badges, bonnet air intake and bonnet locking pins all adding to the masculine image of this high performance sports sedan.

Sold originally in February 1970 through New Oakleigh Motors of Oakleigh, Victoria this very original example of the XW GT Falcon has had an external repaint only in the early 1990s. The paint is showing some patina. The GT features all original running gear including the matching numbers D block 351 Cleveland 4V engine, 4 speed Top Loader gearbox and 9" LSD.

Mechanically, the motor is stock maintained and has never been removed from the car. The compliance plate has also never been removed and the radiator support, shock tower and engine numbers are all day one. This is a very solid XW GT that features all original panels with no rust repairs.

The interior is mostly original with a retrim to the driver's seat base only. The rest of the trim, door cards, dash, instrumentation, steering wheel, crash pad, hood lining are all original.

Open the boot and there is a new rubber boot matt, 5 slot spare and factory tools. The GT is riding on genuine 5 slot rims and new red walled Aquatread Sport ER70H14 tyres.
