Now for sale is a July 1971 XY Falcon GS factory optioned with the 351 K code Cleveland V8, 4 speed Top Loader gearbox, Sports console, Sports dual remote mirrors, heavy duty dust protection, Dual Exhaust and 9" LSD. For sale from Gold Coast, QLD.
One of 33,028 Falcon 500s built this XY is one of only 669 with the 351 Cleveland engine, one of only 490 with the Top Loader 4 speed gearbox. A rare beast, this Falcon GS was originally sold by Kerry Motors in Chinchilla, QLD. The GS was repainted in the 1980s and is showing some paint imperfections which can be seen in the photos. While there is some paint cracking and blistering the XY appears to be rust free. All chrome and stainless is original and in excellent condition and the glass except for the front windscreen is original.
The interior is still the original factory Saddle trim including the original door cards, armrests, crash pad, hood lining and carpets. The dash features all the original factory GS 140 MPH speedo and 8,000 RPM tacho framed by the original working rim blow GS steering wheel and the XY is showing 74,661 miles on the odometer.
The original K Code 2V 351 Cleveland engine was replaced some time ago with a 351 Cleveland sourced from an XD Fairmont Ghia. The motor features a Holley carby, Street Redline aluminium manifold, MSD ignition and Pacemaker extractors. The current owner of 14 years has fitted a 3" exhaust from the extractors back.
Brakes, suspension, and fuel system etc have all been reconditioned. And the underside of the GS presents in unrestored yet good original condition. As part of the optional dust protection package, the GS is fitted with a under engine bash plate to protect the sump and from the rough Aussie roads of the 1970s.
This is a great entry level XY GS and comes with a Ford letter of Verification and full ownership history.
