Description
This 1958 Mercedes Benz 300d was imported in 2013 from the USA. It has undergone a ground up restoration.
Every part of this car has been dismantled and assessed for restoration. The 3 litre engine had new rings fitted with the head reconditioned and resurfaced. All seals and gaskets replaced.
Transmission seals, bearings and gaskets replaced. The differential was dismantled and boots and seals replaced. All the brakes linings replaced and all wheel cylinders reconditioned with a refurbished booster and master cylinder. Radiator and cooling system have been refurbished. All hoses and belts have been replaced. A full set of 215 75R15 white wall tyres have been fitted. The original wheel trims have some slight imperfections.
All the woodwork was refurbished to original dazzling showroom condition. All door seals are new with new seals fitted to front and rear windscreens.
The interior has been completely reupholstered in plush fabric as the original Mercedes plush fabric by Chris Brown at Trim Care classic car upholsterers in Perth WA. A classic similar radio has been fitted in place of the original radio.
The windscreen is new. There is some slight imperfections on other glass but without any cracks or stone chips.
The chrome was renewed and replaced on all exterior trim. Internal chrome is in perfect original condition.
The first class paint job in original Anthracite Grey was carried out by Sam Hawkins at Awesome Paint Works in Malaga WA. All the underbody and the internal of the every frame was treated and painted with body sound deadener protection. The bare chassis repainted in POR 15 coatings can be seen in photo library available.
There is a huge library of photos and receipts of the restoration for this Mercedes Benz.
This Mercedes Benz is number 540 of 1958 300d. Only 3075 Mercedes Benz 300 where made between 1951 and 1962. The odometer shows 37750 Miles as this was a USA import. A declaration of the mileage is on the title supplied from the previous owner. The spare wheel changing tools jack, wrench and original tyre pump is still mounted in the trunk. The original owners manual and workshop manual are with the car. This Mercedes drives nicely and is a sort after appreciating classic.
