MECHANICALLY REFRESHED AUSSIE MKII
After the 1959 debut of the revolutionary, Morris Mini-Minor, it was just a short 2 Years before John Cooper introduced to the world, the first Mini Cooper, with the S following a further 2 Years later, in 1963.
September 1965 marked the introduction of Australia's Cooper S, imported by BMC in CKD (Completely Knocked Down) form, and assembled using local components to our very own specification, including wind up windows with pivoting quarter lights and hydrolastic suspension.
This 1969 Australian Cooper S MkII presents in the Classic Combination of a White roof and bonnet stripes over British Racing Green, with Light Green vinyl interior trim. The cabin Featuring the almost obligatory 8000RPM Smiths tachometer, a sports woodrim steering wheel and period looking Ferris radio.
The file accompanying the Cooper S contains photos and invoices confirming a comprehensive mechanical restoration carried out in 2015, including an engine rebuild and a Needham rebuilt gearbox.
The Cooper S drives well, with good power and the nimble road performance that Mini's are known for. A true classic of the period, which is still able to put a real smile on the face of those who remember them fondly, as well as those embarking on a new classic experience.
