Penrite – Filling The Market Gap

Penrite’s reputation for developing and being first to market with new lubricant, coolant and additive technologies, has once again been enhanced with their new Automatic Transmission Fluid called ATF BMV.

Another Auto Transmission Fluid? The market is already littered with a multitude of types and brands competing for a share of the sales. So, what’s different about this new product from Penrite?

Penrite’s new ATF BMV, fills in one of the biggest gaps in automotive aftermarket fluids. For years the trade has been crying out for a non-OEM fluid designed for servicing of ZF (ZF Friedrichshafen AG) automatic transmissions. Penrite’s new ATF BMV can be used for ZF 6, 8 and 9 speed automatics. Yes, that’s right, it does all three where there are three separate OEM fluids for these transmissions.

Prior to the new Penrite ATF BMV, customers who had vehicles with a ZF 6, 8 or 9 speed transmission that wanted it serviced would be assured of one thing. It was going to be costly whether it was done by a dealer, transmission specialist or their local service centre. The cost of the OEM fluids and filter kit meant that the owner was in for a nasty invoice. Although most service centres and workshops were quite capable of servicing these transmissions, the cost of replacement fluid made the servicing prohibitive.

These transmissions in many instances are deemed by vehicle manufacturers as “Filled for Life” or their servicing interval is listed as “When Needed”. Due to the cost of the fluid, many consumers would choose not to service these transmissions. Items that are “Filled for Life” are still only valid for the warranty period of the vehicle. All fluids will wear out in time and depending on how the vehicle is used, this may be sooner or later. So even if the vehicle manufacturer has a “Filled for Life” specification, it is always good practice to service automatic transmissions at regular intervals. This ensures the fluid which drives the transmission is in good order and the transmission will perform as it was designed to do.
