Hyundai and Polestar stood out with notable wins at the 2024 Australian Good Design Awards.
Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 N and all-new SANTA FE both secured Good Design Awards in the Automotive & Transport Product category.
Meanwhile, Polestar 3 claimed a series of honors, including the Best in Class Award for the Automotive & Transport category.
The IONIQ 5 N, Hyundai’s first high-performance electric vehicle, was praised for its imaginative design and driver-engaging capabilities.
The Good Design Awards jury commented: “The IONIQ 5 N is Hyundai’s first high-performance electric vehicle, setting new standards in the industry with its imaginative design and technology… It represents a significant step forward in the realm of high-performance electric vehicles.”
Hyundai’s SANTA FE also impressed with its rugged, outdoor-oriented design and sustainability-focused features. The jury highlighted the SUV’s balance of style, space, and innovation, stating: “The fifth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe combines rugged styling with advanced electrified hybrid technologies… Its thoughtful design and use of advanced powertrains highlight Hyundai’s commitment to evolving its SUV offerings.”

Sleek and sustainable
Polestar 3, a sleek and modern performance SUV, also garnered significant recognition. It took home:
- Gold Award in the Product Design category
- Automotive Design Award for Best Exterior Design,
- And the Best in Class Award for the Automotive & Transport category.
Polestar 3’s clean, sculpted exterior and minimalist interior were lauded by the judges as a “symbol of a new era in mobility.”
“The Polestar 3 redefines what an SUV can be in the electric age by blending sculpted clean surfacing, minimalist detailing, and optimised aerodynamics into a new, technical design language,” Good Design Australia Managing Director Rachel Wye said.
