Jett started racing go carts at the young age of 14 in 2020, which was an insight into his talent, earning the title of 2015 Central Queensland Go-kart Champion.
This success continued into 2022, with Jett having achieved multiple podium finishes over 3 seasons in the Trans Am 2 Series and winning the 2022 TA2 Muscle Car Northern Series driving a 525hp, 6.2L 6500rpm Generation Six Ford Mustang.

These races are designed for drivers to rely more heavily on their skills rather than vehicle performance.
This is achieved by vehicles being standardised with heavily reduced aerodynamics and low grip Hoosier Tyres creating a looser, more difficult drive on the track.
The result is an exhilarating experience for motorsports fans and drivers alike.

Jett Johnson has taken the next step in his motorsport career and is competing in the Dunlop Super3 Series with the backing of NAPA Auto Parts.

Johnson joins Mason Kelly, son of former Bathurst 1000 winner Todd, in Nissan Altimas.

“I’m super excited to confirm that I’ll be with NAPA Auto Parts in the Dunlop Super3 Series this year,” said Johnson.
“I can’t believe this is the year I get to start my Supercars career. Being around Supercars with Dad and Grandpa all my life, I feel the time is right.
“It’s really cool to have the NAPA Auto Parts and the NAPA Motorsport Academy onboard for my first Supercars season.”

The Dunlop Super3 Series will be hotly contested in 2023, with the cars that formerly raced in Super2 now eligible for Super3.
The influx of new machinery has opened many avenues for new talent, like Johnson, to get their chance in the development category. NAPA Auto Parts Head of Sponsorship Mitch Wiley says that Johnson is the perfect choice to represent NAPA in the development motorsport class.

“The team at NAPA are all behind Jett, and we can’t wait to be part of the next chapter of his career,” said Wiley.
“Jett is an outstanding young ambassador for our brand, and we look forward to seeing his progression”.

Jett raced the NAPA Auto Parts Nissan Altima at the Newcastle 500 Super3 in March. The third-generation driver is equal third of nine drivers in a tight field.

Jett’s road ahead

Jett is one to keep an eye on showing great talent on the track and a passion for motorsport.

Look out for future Super3 races to catch all the action! NAPA Auto Parts is proud to sponsor Johnson as part of their NAPA Motorsport Academy, which has over 600 members Australia and New Zealand wide.

If yourself, or anyone you know is over 13 years of age and races on four wheels within Australian competition, they’re eligible to join the NAPA Motorsport Academy!
