Positioned to redefine standards for pickup trucks, the Tasman emphasises advanced features and comfort, aimed at both work and recreational users.
The Tasman incorporates Kia’s legacy in SUV and off-road development, boasting capability across diverse terrains.
“The Kia Tasman is a progressive pickup truck that follows its own path,” Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Song said.
“It combines true pickup values with exceptional capability and practicality.”
The design emphasises utility without relying on oversized styling with Kia’s Head of Global Design Karim Habib describing it as “solid and capable, designed to serve as a dependable companion in every situation.”
Strait on the roads
The Tasman’s design features a large radiator grille, bold bumper, and Kia’s iconic Tiger Face, complemented by vertically oriented lighting.
The interior presents a practical and spacious layout, featuring a multi-function steering wheel and wide 12.3-inch screens, providing both driver and passenger with advanced controls and infotainment. Optional eight-speaker Harmon Kardon audio enhances the entertainment experience, integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Available in a variety of trims, including the base Double Cab and the more rugged X-Line and X-Pro models, the Tasman is equipped with all-wheel-drive capabilities on select trims. In Australia, a 2.2L diesel engine offers 441Nm of torque, while other markets feature a 2.5L petrol engine option. The X-Pro variant includes additional off-road functionality, such as a Rock mode for extreme terrain and an advanced Electronic Locking Differential (e-LD) for optimal control.
Practicality and customisation options are central to the Tasman’s appeal. The load bed supports up to 1,195 kg and offers accessory configurations such as a Single Decker with butterfly doors and a Double Decker for cargo customization. Furthermore, Kia has integrated advanced driver assistance systems like lane-keeping assist and trailer profile functionality, enhancing safety for towing.
Making its global debut at the Jeddah Motor Show, the Kia Tasman will initially launch in Korea in early 2025, with subsequent introductions planned for Australia, Africa, and the Middle East.
