No Time, No Problem with JB Weld

With its extensive range of products, JB Weld can take thestress off that pesky repair situation and help you get the job done in no time.

Not only is time money but in an automotive workshop it can sometimes translate to frustrated customers when their car is out of action for too long while you wait for a part to come in. And with couriers busier than ever that wait can be even longer than usual.

Obviously, some parts are necessary for a suitable repair, but others can be easily and successfully repaired using JB Weld products, and for less cost – another bonus for your customer.

JB Weld has a host of products that can take the stress off that pesky repair situation and the fact that these products can be stored easily on a shelf, taking up little space, makes them even more attractive to any workshop.

As an example, here are four products that should be on the shelf in every workshop and in the toolbox of every mechanic: JB Weld Original, KwikWeld, WaterWeld and SteelStik.

KWIKWELD
JB Weld KwikWeld is the fast-setting version of the original JB Weld two-part epoxy cold weld system – JB Weld Twin Tube. KwikWeld is what’s needed when you don’t have time to wait. It is rated at 2424 psi and sets in six minutes; fully cures within 4-6 hours, so you can get the work done faster without an overnight wait.

JB Weld KwikWeld is good for up to 148°C and provides strong, lasting repairs to metal and multiple other surfaces. After curing, it forms a permanent bond and can be shaped, tapped, filed, sanded and drilled.

STEELSTIK
JB Weld SteelStik is a hand-mixable, steelreinforced, non-rusting epoxy putty that quickly repairs or rebuilds anything made of metal.

After mixing, it forms an industrialstrength polymer compound that can be moulded into shapes or used to build up, patch and repair steel components.

SteelStik sets in 3-5 minutes and after 60 minutes it can be drilled, tapped, machined, ground, filed and painted. It cures to a dark grey colour, is rated at a tensile strength of 900 psi and will withstand temperatures up to 148°C.

HPP Lunds is the Australian distributor for all JB Weld products and the products are available from leading automotive stores or alternatively trade enquiries can be made direct to HPP Lunds.

JB WELD ORIGINAL
J-B Weld Original is the original two-part epoxy system that provides strong, lasting repairs to metal and multiple surfaces.

Mixed at a ratio of 1:1, it forms a permanent bond and can be shaped, tapped, filed, sanded and drilled after curing. At room temperature, J-B Weld sets in 4-6 hours to a dark grey colour. A full cure is reached in 15-24 hours. Allow 4-6 hours before handling and 15 hours (minimum) before putting object back in use.

J-B Weld Twin Tube has a tensile strength of 3690 psi and it can withstand temperatures up to 287°C when fully cured.

With both KwikWeld and JB Weld Original you must first carefully clean the surface area of dirt, grease, oil, paint or loose debris with a detergent or degreaser, then roughen the surface with file or coarse sandpaper to provide the best bond.

Squeeze equal parts from each tube onto a disposable surface and mix it thoroughly then apply it with an appropriate tool in an even coat, weld bead or extruded shape as needed.

WATERWELD
JB Weld WaterWeld will plug or seal leaks and patch holes and cracks in almost anything. Ideal for repairing fuel tanks and works with materials such as fibreglass, PVC plastic, copper, brass, iron and aluminium. It is resistant to water, oil, gas, diesel, hydraulic fluids and most chemicals. Plus, it will also set under water.

After curing, it can be drilled, tapped, filed, sanded and painted.

WaterWeld has a set time of 15-25 minutes and sets hard in one hour, it cures to an off-white colour, is rated at a tensile strength of 900 psi and will withstand temperatures up to 148°C.

Like most JB Weld products it is important to ensure that the surfaces are clean with no oil or grease smears. First remove the required amount of putty and knead it thoroughly with your fingers until it is a uniform colour then press it firmly on the repair surface. It will set in 25 minutes and cure in one hour to an off-white colour with a strength of 900 psi.

With 57 products in the range, it’s impossible to describe them all here so visit www.hpplunds.com.au or call Ben Leonard on (07) 3722 1111 for more information.
