Penrite Oil, one of Australia’s largest automotive lubricant manufacturers, has recently marked the opening of its new Western Australia warehouse at 5 Nexus Way Bayswater. This state-of-the-art facility represents a significant investment in Penrite’s commitment to providing the best possible service to its customers, with the newly constructed building having been designed specifically for Penrite’s operations.
The site was chosen as it’s in a new industrial estate close to the airport and the city, and is serviced by Perth’s bustling Tonkin Highway, creating an ideal central location for Penrite’s growing WA operations.
With construction having been completed at the end of 2022, the building is the most modern of its type in Western Australia. Some of the state-of-the-art construction techniques and features of the building include:
- A 12m wide x 61m long canopy allowing four x B-double trucks to set down and pick up goods at the one time, a leading feature of modern distribution centres.
- New foundation and structural steel systems.
- Durable concrete panel wall construction.
- Extensive use of energy saving LED lighting.
- Water tanks.
- A major pump station, which, together with mains hydrants, doubles fire extinguishing capabilities.
- Minimum wall heights of 10.4m rising to 11.3m at the ridge, allowing extensive racking and storage.
- Expansive carpark and bike racks for staff and customer convenience.
- Gated entry for security.
- Landscaping for visual amenity.
The Bayswater site will form the prototype of future buildings brought into the Penrite group across Australia and New Zealand. The building has been sectioned off and another business currently has tenancy of the secondary space.
This will give Penrite further expansion options should this be required when the lease expires in the future.
The local Penrite team consists of State Manager Cameron Barr, five sales reps, a warehouse manager, and three warehouse staff, who are committed to providing the best possible service to customers. They are responsible for managing the inventory of Penrite’s extensive product range, including engine oils, gear oils, automatic transmission fluids, brake fluids, coolants, and Penrite-owned flagship brand Lightning Cleans, amongst other categories.

One of the key benefits of the new warehouse is its vast storage space. With 1200 pallet spaces as well as dedicated space for several 1000L IBCs, Penrite can now hold a wider range of inventory in WA compared to the previous site’s 400 pallet spaces. Therefore the team can shorten delivery times to local customers, ensure that customers can always find the RITE product when they need it, and can prevent out-of-stock situations.

The opening of this grand facility was marked with an opening night on Wednesday April 26 2023, which was attended by about 500 Penrite customers and members of the public. Drawcards for the event included Penrite Racing, with Dave Reynolds and Matt Payne showing off the new Gen3 Supercars ahead of the Perth Supersprint round, as well as the following Penrite ambassadors displaying their vehicles:

A distinguished guest in attendance was Chas Harris, Penrite’s first distributor in WA back in 1983.
Margaret and Toby Dymond attended representing the Dymond family, delighting guests with special anecdotes about the company’s history. Head of Sales and Marketing John Firth emceed the evening.
The event was run by the entire WA team, with help from SA State Manager Pete Sandford. The team worked tirelessly to get the facility fully operational and presentable in just eight weeks, and Penrite is extremely proud and thankful for their efforts.
