Polestar Q1 sales skyrocket over Tesla in Australia

Polestar Q1 2025 retail sales volumes have shown significant growth, with an estimated 12,304 cars sold in Australia.

This represents a 76 per cent increase compared to Q1 2024 and stable sales versus Q4 2024.

“We are on the right track and doing the right things,” Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said.
“I’m pleased with the progress we are making in transforming our commercial operations.
“With a more active selling model, more retail partners and attractive cars, we are delivering results.”

The sales growth is attributed to the increasing uptake of newer models and the transition to an active selling model. In Australia, Polestar recorded a 12 per cent increase in sales compared to Q1 2024, despite the electric vehicle market experiencing a decline.

“We’re very pleased to see that our new model line-up is resonating with Australians following the introduction of two SUVs,” said Scott Maynard, Head of Polestar Australia.
“We’ve grown our retail footprint by 50 per cent on last year to make Polestar more accessible to our customers, which has transformed our retail operations. Our retail partners are doing a remarkable job for the brand and we’re looking forward to new, purpose-built retail Spaces coming online in the next quarter.”

Polestar expects to publish its full-year results for 2024 and file its annual report on Form 20-F by the end of April 2025.

The news comes as Tesla sales continue to plummet in Australia, with sales dropping 53 per cent in March 2025 and 12 per cent overall in Q1.
