Revealed: Australia’s favourite used cars

Recent data has revealed nearly twice as many used cars were sold in Australia last month as new vehicles.

Data from the Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA) and AutoGrab also revealed that prices are continuing to drop, but some models are still selling for above the new price.

According to AADA, the value of used cars is continuing to drop as more cars join the market than are snapped up by customers.

The data shows the number of used-car listings last month increased 2.1 per cent to 302,848, but sales decreased 0.3 per cent to 192,266.

Sales of used electric cars are down 3.8 per cent. While listings of the same type of vehicles are up 6.9 per cent – mirroring a slip in new electric vehicle sales last month.

  • The Ford Ranger was the most popular used car in June 2024, as well as among new cars.
