The Australian and New Zealand automotive market is the most complex in the world having a vastly greater number of vehicle brands and models than any other market.
The complexity of these markets flows through to the Automatic Transmissions used and therefore the requirements of the transmission fluids needed to service these various specifications which in itself has become extremely complex. And as such, it’s important to have an understanding of the functions necessary to ensure optimal transmission performance and longevity. These tasks include the cooling of the transmission, its lubrication, its protection against wear, the operation of solenoids and clutch packs, as well as managing friction during gear shifts and prevention of shuddering. If one or even several of these tasks are not performed properly, the transmission will at the very least feel wrong and most likely sustain damage.
For example, Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATFs) need to show excellent friction and anti-foam characteristics. Often, these performance requirements cannot be optimised simultaneously. Instead, one needs to be optimised at the expense of another. Transmission fluids therefore must be formulated for the specific needs of the transmission type and even the transmission model they are intended to be used in.
While a multi-vehicle ATF can serve a purpose towards satisfying general automatic transmission requirements across a mixed fleet of vehicles, it will not truly deliver the same level of performance as a dedicated, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Approved, Automatic Transmission Fluid.
As one of the biggest OEM first-fill suppliers for transmission fluids, FUCHS works closely with the transmission and vehicle OEMs, as well as key industry formulation houses to ensure its range of ATFs provide optimum performance to the nominated transmissions in the market.
Within the complexity of transmissions in this market there are dominate OEM specifications that service significant numbers of vehicles, so being able to engineer a fluid to provide more than one such OEM Approval in a single fluid provides significant benefit for the vehicle service industry.
Titan ATF 6400
- Approved by General Motors (DEXRON-VI) and Ford (MERCON LV) in specified automatic transmissions.
- Approved for JASO 1-A-LV coverage in Japanese automatic transmissions.
- Specially formulated additive technology providing exceptional anti-shudder performance to improve driving experience.
- Consistently strong friction control providing excellent shifting performance.
- Supported by real-world testing in a range of passenger vehicles with nearly 1,000,000 kilometres testing.
- Large market coverage; and,
- Fewer fluids required in the workshop.
To that end FUCHS has developed TITAN ATF 6400 to provide OEM approved coverage for both the current mainstream GM and Ford specifications, as well as validated capability to service a number of Japanese, Korean and European requirements.
After analysing the Australian and New Zealand market, Fuchs believes the specifications of its TITAN ATF 6400 product allows it to service up to approximately 5.5 million vehicles*.TITAN ATF 6400 has been specially designed to deliver increased performance and fuel efficiency for modern automatic transmissions where reduced viscosity is required whilst also meeting the stringent GM DEXRON-VI and Ford MERCON LV Approvals.
In addition, TITAN ATF 6400 provides exceptional anti-shudder performance, consistent and strong friction control properties validated through real-world testing of nearly 1,000,000 kilometres.
And as TITAN ATF 6400 is the first FUCHS fluid to come with the significant Ford MERCON LV Approval, it further strengthens the coverage of Fuchs’ range of transmission products across the Australian and New Zealand car parc.
