The rapid rise of Chinese vehicle brands is reshaping Australia’s automotive market. More than 20 Chinese brands roaming Aussie roads, and over 250,000 Chinese-made vehicles were sold in Australia in calendar year 2025 alone.
For the aftermarket, that growth represents both opportunity and complexity — particularly as Australians continue holding onto their vehicles longer, with the average vehicle age now exceeding 11 years.

For long-established suppliers like Transgold, the shift reinforces the importance of planning, coverage and disciplined sourcing.
Four decades of expertise
For more than 40 years, Transgold has supplied high-quality automotive parts to the Australian aftermarket, earning a reputation for durability, precision fit and vibration-reducing performance.
Transgold Managing Director Keith Yong says the expanding car parc is increasing the complexity of ranging decisions.
“Our ranging gets more complex every year,” he said.
“We’ve had over 50 manufacturers here for a while and now with the Chinese brands we’re probably over 70.”
“It makes our job more complex as we have to follow our sourcing process for all these new models. Now it might be a few years before repair shops encounter Chinese brand vehicles, but we’ve got to be ready with the appropriate range of parts – particularly across our core range.”
“We’ve already started to identify the models, obtain the right OEM specifications, and liaise with our suppliers to get prototype parts under way. We’re sticking with our ISO:9001 or TS:16949 certification policy to ensure the Transgold quality.”
Big range and coverage
Transgold is best known for its rubber component expertise, including engine, body and strut mounts, suspension components and transmission kits.
Its core range includes:
- 2,500 suspension parts covering 90 per cent of the market
- 2,500 engine mounts covering 97 per cent of the market
- More than 400 transmission kits delivering 99 per cent coverage
The company has also expanded into strut mounts, with more than 200 parts covering over 50 per cent of the market, alongside 200 body mounts supporting major SUV and 4×4 models.
All products are sourced from certified manufacturers meeting or exceeding OEM standards, with ISO 9001 and TS 16949 credentials — ensuring consistency across an increasingly diverse vehicle parc.
Built for efficiency
“We understand the workshop business…. time pressures and getting the right part quickly,” Yong explained.
To support workshops, Transgold offers Rego and VIN lookup via its website, enabling precise part identification.
The professional-only parts finder — built on the market-leading AutoInfo architecture behind the OSCAR catalogue — is available to mechanics in Australia and New Zealand. National distribution supports next-day delivery across most regions, with twice-daily same-day service in Sydney.
As new brands enter the market and vehicles remain on the road longer, speed, accuracy and comprehensive coverage remain critical.
