Australia’s second-favourite SUV – the Isuzu MU-X – is set to receive a transformative midlife facelift as well as a new flagship variant.
The Isuzu MU-X X-TERRAIN variant will be available for order from local Isuzu UTE Dealers starting March 1, 2025.
“The updated 2025 MU-X represents a major milestone in the evolution of one of Australia’s favourite SUVs,” Isuzu Ute Australia Managing Director Junta Matsui said.
“Built on a foundation of customer and media feedback, this significant update enhances packaging and specification across the range—keeping the MU-X at the pointy end of the highly competitive large-SUV segment as one of the top choice.
“Following last year’s record-breaking sales results of nearly 18,000 vehicles sold and delivered, which was an increase of 27.2 per cent year-on-year, these updates further strengthen the MU-X’s appeal among motorists, effectively answering their calls and positioning it to continue its momentum on the sales charts.”

New Infotainment Features
Addressing customer and media feedback, the Isuzu MU-X has undergone significant upgrades to its touchscreen infotainment systems.
The LS-M variant is equipped with an 8.0-inch display, while the LS-U, LS-T, and X-TERRAIN models feature a more spacious 9.0-inch screen, enhancing the user experience.
Key enhancements include USB-C connectivity, voice recognition, and DAB+ digital radio, alongside both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capabilities, ensuring seamless smartphone integration.

Designed with off-road enthusiasts in mind, the system integrates an inclinometer and Terrain Command 4×4 drive modes, allowing drivers to access essential information quickly via a user-friendly interface. Additionally, to streamline functionality, the MU-X now includes tuning and volume dials, and warning messages on the screen automatically clear after a few seconds.
The 9.0-inch screen goes above and beyond, offering advanced capabilities such as integrated satellite navigation, ADAS settings control, and two fast-charging 3.0-Amp USB-C ports. It also features real-time monitoring of tyre pressure and temperature, equipping drivers with essential data for safer driving.
Off-Road Capability
The Isuzu MU-X continues to be a favorite among Australian motorists, finishing within the top five best-selling 4x4s of 2024. With generous ground clearance of up to 235mm, an impressive wading depth of 800mm, and robust underbody protection, the MU-X is designed for reliability and performance. It features selectable dual-range 4WD, a Rough Terrain Mode (RTM), and a rear differential lock, along with exceptional approach, departure, and ramp-over angles of 29.2°, 26.4°, and 23.1° respectively for the X-TERRAIN model.
Updated Rough Terrain Mode
Based on customer and media insights, the Rough Terrain Mode has been fine-tuned to enhance performance on a wider range of surfaces. Originally introduced in the 2021 MU-X, RTM intelligently modulates brake pressure at individual wheels to minimise slippage by redistributing torque for optimal traction.
The updated 2025 MU-X 4×4 range features a recalibrated RTM system that works seamlessly with the rear differential lock, providing continuous traction across the rear axle while deploying traction control at the front.
Updated Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS) Responding to user feedback, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System has been revamped to deliver real-time individual tyre pressures and temperatures. This information is now easily visible on the 7.0-inch Multi-Information Display (MID) and the advanced 9.0-inch infotainment screen on the LS-U, LS-T, and X-TERRAIN models, enhancing safety and performance awareness during every drive.
