Who is Dorman – New and Exclusive

Dorman changes the game with improved OE replacement parts.

Growing a local foothold through IM Group, Dorman products offer a new aftermarket alternative for customers. Serving the US automotive aftermarket since 1918, Dorman has grown to dominate automotive maintenance by releasing parts and components once exclusively available through OEMs. Today, it produces more than 80,000 products, with numbers growing every year.

UNLOCKING ‘DEALER ONLY’ PARTS
Dorman’s approach is to offer an aftermarket alternative to products that have previously been ‘dealer only’. It starts with getting access to warranty data from OEMs in the US, then creating aftermarket solutions for components that typically show up as warranty items.

Car manufacturers in the USA are mandated to make this information available. Australian product managers extensively evaluate products from US markets, then apply them to Australia’s needs before supplying the items here.

Dorman has delivered its products and repair solutions to Australia and New Zealand for the past five years. Sold exclusively by the Innovative Mechatronics Group (IM Group), thousands of these parts and components are now available to suit a wide range of global vehicles.

NOT JUST REPLICATED BUT REMODELLED FOR THE BETTER
Dorman’s aftermarket parts are proving to be an increasingly valuable part of the IM Group of brands. What makes them truly unique is the fact that they’re designed to not only replicate the model, but to fix the issue that brought it to maintenance. Products are only manufactured based on issues with the OEM part or component. As a result, the design and build are improved for a better and longer lasting experience.

A PROBLEM SOLVED
Chrysler, Dodge, RAM and Jeep vehicles face some very unique operating conditions across this wide brown land we call home. From cold starts in our Kosciuszko snow fields, to incredible heat while towing a van across the Aussie outback, their engines face some of the most gruelling temperature cycles on the planet. These extreme conditions absolutely punish any ancillary component attached to the engine and the popular 3.2 and 3.6 litre V6 variants seen in these vehicles are no exception. A common issue facing repairers of this power-plant is the dreaded “leaky” oil filter housing.

The factory oil filter adapter often leaks oil when its plastic housing warps from harsh under-hood operating conditions. The plastic eventually degrades from heat and chemical exposure and can even break when simply tightening the oil filter cap during a regular service. Replacing it with an OEM housing could mean the same issues seen again in the future.

The filter housing lives deep in the valley of the 3.2 and 3.6 V6 engines meaning a lengthy and involved “remove and replace” procedure – compounded by age and driveline configuration. If going that deep to perform a repair, it makes sense to use parts that have been designed to fix the cause of the original complaint.

The Dorman “OE FIX” filter housing, is made entirely of aluminium for a more durable replacement. Engineered and manufactured in the USA, the Dorman upgraded filter housing is supplied with everything you need to carry out an effective repair, including all O-rings, premium gaskets, replacement bolts and a comprehensive set of instructions. The Dorman product range extends to passenger, light commercial and heavy-duty applications. It includes many subcomponents to fix common OE faults, saving valuable time and therefore customers hard earned money.

Don’t replace a leaking filter housing with another failure-prone design – truly fix it with this improved Dorman product.
